About The Position

AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. At the moment we are in URGENT need of a Recreational Therapist to take on a Full-Time assignment at the correctional facility located in Wasco, CA. This position involves developing and implementing specialized recreation therapy services for Patient-Inmates and DJJ Youth, focusing on promoting social interaction, beneficial leisure time utilization, and preparation for reentry. The role also includes participation in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and evaluating recreation therapy needs related to activities of daily living, communication, physical exercise, and coping strategies.

Requirements

• Certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
• 1 Full-Year of experience as a licensed CTRS

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services to Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth.
• Promote social interaction, encourage beneficial and appropriate utilization of leisure time, and provide Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with preparation for reentry into general population or other levels of treatment.
• Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinate services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors and other custody personnel.
• Evaluate recreation therapy needs for Patients-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with particular attention to activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.
