Recreational Therapist (CTR) - Pediatrics

Pediatric Specialty Care (PSC) is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and creative Recreational Therapist to join our interdisciplinary pediatric team. Creativity & Relationship Building: This role allows you to combine clinical recreation knowledge with creativity, compassion, and relationship-centered care. Hands-On Impact: You will directly support individuals through: therapeutic recreation programming, community outings, social engagement, activities of daily living, developmental goal progression, and quality-of-life enhancement. Team Collaboration: Partner with nursing, therapy, education, social work, behavioral health, and leadership teams to create engaging, individualized experiences for residents. The Recreational Therapist is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating both individualized and group recreational therapy programming for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities within a pediatric specialty care environment. Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited college or university
- Recreational Therapist Certification required
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification
- Valid driver’s license required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
Responsibilities
- Conduct recreational therapy assessments upon admission and annually thereafter
- Develop therapeutic recreation goals and individualized programming
- Lead and participate in 1:1 and group activities
- Create engaging monthly activity calendars
- Coordinate community outings and special events
- Support individuals with activities of daily living as needed
- Document progress toward goals and developmental milestones
- Supervise activity assistants and volunteers
- Foster socialization, confidence, emotional wellbeing, and community engagement
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary care teams
