About The Position

The Recreational Therapist is responsible for completing comprehensive evaluations and developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the primary counselor and interdisciplinary team. This role uses therapeutic, recreational, and leisure-based activities to support patients’ emotional, social, and behavioral health needs. The therapist monitors patient progress, adjusts interventions as needed, and facilitates both group and individual sessions to promote engagement, coping skills, and socialization. Additionally, this position plays a key role in discharge planning by educating patients and families on community resources and healthy leisure lifestyles to support ongoing recovery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field required
  • Current Recreational Therapist license
  • Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification
  • Handle With Care within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Social Work degree preferred
