About The Position

The Recreational Therapist position will plan, implement and evaluate quality recreational therapy (RT) treatment programs for adults with co-occurring diagnoses based on an individual assessment of needs, interest, abilities and referrals from the physician. This position is responsible for providing non medical diagnostic services and rehabilitative treatment for each patient referred with appropriate documentation of patient progress and participation in RT groups. The Recreational Therapist is an integral part of the interdisciplinary treatment team, acting as the RT representative to the assigned unit. This position develops individualized treatment plans and implements interventions to improve life skills, enhancing quality of life and function of referred patients.

Requirements

  • Ability to complete the physical requirements for CPR and CPI certifications.
  • Licensed to practice recreational therapy by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure.

  • Knowledge of human structures, physiology of human structure, mechanics of movement, life-cycle growth and development.
  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and their implications for Recreational Therapy services.
