About The Position

Silver Oaks Behavioral Hospital is seeking an empathetic and dedicated Recreational Therapist (CTRS) to join their team. This PRN Weekend position offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on the mental well-being of individuals. The Recreational Therapist will be responsible for observing and applying sound judgment to patients' physical and mental conditions/needs, documenting and communicating changes in patient behavior and progress towards treatment plan goals, and providing assessments in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency. The role involves assisting patients in achieving their optimum level of independent functioning, planning and implementing activity therapy for assigned patient caseloads, modeling and teaching appropriate social, coping, and stress management techniques, and contributing to treatment plans with specific goals and interventions in therapeutic activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Art Therapy (B.C.A.T.), Recreational Therapy (C.T.R.S.), Dance Movement Therapy (D.M.T) is required or related educational equivalence.
  • One (1) year of related experience.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
  • May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Responsibilities
