About The Position

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation is seeking a Per Diem Recreational Therapist for their Inpatient Rehab unit in West Orange, NJ. This role involves planning and implementing recreation activities for patients with various medical conditions, including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputation, and multiple traumas. Requirements

• National certification from NCTRC as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is required to start.
• Baccalaureate Degree in Therapeutic Recreation required.
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) or completion within the first 90 days of employment is required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Acute Rehab preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements appropriate recreation activities for patients in accordance with guidelines set by the organization, hospital, and the profession.
• Responsible for the provision of therapeutic recreation intervention for an assigned caseload.
• Ensures all patients are oriented to recreation therapy and provides hospital-wide leisure, social, and divergent programs.
• Serves as an educator to patients on community resources.
