Recreational Therapist (CTRS) - Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health (per diem)

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy is required
- Experience in an acute care, extended care, rehabilitation, mental health, or outpatient setting
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing evaluation and treatment upon physician referral to a patient population consisting of varying diagnosis.
- Assess, identify and treat all areas of deficits impacting leisure, social interaction skills, community resources and community re-entry.
- Provides instruction and education to the patient/caregiver to promote the safe execution of the facilitator techniques taught.
- Plans, organizes and coordinates recreation activities, functional leisure skills, and leisure education.
- Interviews the person served to assess capabilities/interests/barriers.
- Monitor progress and recommends changes modifications to program as required.
- Plan and implement interventions to prevent harm to a patient.
- Engage and instruct patients in therapeutic activities, such as games, sports, crafts, music, and group activities.
- Observe, analyze, and record patients' participation, reactions, and progress during treatment sessions, modifying treatment programs as needed.
- Consult with physicians and other members of the rehabilitation team regarding therapeutic recreation goals for program referrals.
- Coordinate activities with staff/rehabilitation team and participate in care planning meetings.
- Assess patients' needs through observations, medical records, tests, and talking with other healthcare professionals, patients’ families, and patients.
- Create treatment plans and programs that meet patients’ rehabilitation needs and interests.
- Confer with members of treatment team to plan and evaluate therapy programs.
- Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of activity care plans and patient assessments.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
