About The Position

Glen Oaks Hospital is a 54-bed private mental health hospital in Greenville, Texas, serving adults and seniors in a comfortable, homelike setting. The Recreation Therapist plans and implements activity services for an assigned program, defines and implements treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, and provides continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and may require overtime and flexible hours.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in occupational, art, music, or recreation therapy, humanities, social work, or a related therapeutic discipline.
Certification or licensure by a state and/or national governing body as an Occupational Therapist or Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
Successfully complete CPR certification.
Successfully complete Handle With Care de-escalation and restraint training before assisting with a restraining procedure or within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Art Therapy preferred.
One year of related experience preferred.
Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness preferred.
