Recreation Therapist
About The Position
This position is responsible for coordinating and providing all activities with day program. We are looking for compassionate and caring Recreation Therapist to join our LIFE New Jersey team. LIFE New Jersey Healthcare is a member of Trinity Health PACE. Our facility ministers exclusively to the elderly through a coordinated care model which provides preventive, primary, acute and long-term care services designed to assist older individuals to live as independently as possible while continuing to live within their community. This position will be housed primarily at the LIFE New Jersey facility. However, occasional home care work may be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy related field or NCCAP Activity Professionals Certification.
- Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated experience in activities/therapeutic recreation related services with geriatric population.
- Minimum of one (1) year documented experience working with a frail or elderly population or if less than one (1) year of experience, must receive appropriate training from the PACE organization on working with a frail or elderly population upon hiring.
- Must be action-oriented, have business acumen, manage conflict well, be customer focused, have high decision quality, flexibility to adapt to ongoing change and have organizational agility.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance maintaining the independence of the participant to conduct activities of daily living, including toileting, showers, eating, and grooming
- Assist participants in the maintenance of physical activity, exercise, and walking
- Provide behavioral supervision or support for participants, such as reality orientation, reminder to follow through with nursing and medication instruction, diet restrictions, and emotional reassurance
- Assist with general activities such as conversing with participants, recreation activities, meal and snack serving, and housekeeping.
