About The Position

Millwood Hospital, a 134-bed mental health facility, provides inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency treatment to a diverse age range of patients. Since 1971, the hospital has offered comprehensive care with a multidisciplinary staff. Located in Arlington, TX, Millwood Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and is part of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS). The Recreation/Activity Therapy Counselor is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned programs, defining treatment goals as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team, and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Art, Music, or Recreation therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline.
One (1) year of related experience.
Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques.
Understanding of mental illness.
Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in art, recreation, or music therapy.
Successful completion of CPR Certification prior to beginning work.
Successful completion of CPI Behavior Training prior to beginning work.
Current First Aid certifications.

Nice To Haves

Masters degree in Art Therapy.
