About The Position

The Art Camp Team Lead will create a welcoming, creative environment where youth can explore art, build skills, and have fun. This role coordinates activities, ensures safety and behavior expectations are met, and maintains program quality. They serve as the key point of contact for staff and families. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with kids and bringing creativity to life.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of operations, functions, and standards for recreation programming, facility operations, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of effective supervision and customer service best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures for the assignment.
  • Strong knowledge of behavior management, childhood development, and age-appropriate crafts, games, and activities.
  • Strong knowledge of effective teaching techniques, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  • General knowledge of supervision practices.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, direct others, and exercise initiative and independent decision-making.
  • High level of competency and expertise in the program area.
  • Ability to actively participate in all activities.
  • Strong organizational, time management, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and create positive, constructive, and respectful relationships with staff and the public.
  • Ability to manage and handle emergency/crisis situations.
  • Ability to operate computer programs and common office equipment, staying current with new programs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum direction and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in area of responsibility and/or performing similar tasks, or any satisfactory combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire a valid First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Ability to report to additional sites throughout the workday; if using a personal vehicle, possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days with an acceptable driving history may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned youth recreation programs, participants, staff, and volunteers, ensuring participant safety.
  • Provide leadership, expertise, and support to assigned staff, including training, mentoring, directing, assigning work, and providing input into evaluations.
  • Plan, organize, implement, and supervise developmentally appropriate activities (including SEL, STEM, crafts, games).
  • Communicate regularly with school staff, parents/guardians, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and direct needed staff and equipment.
  • Perform program-specific planning and evaluation.
  • Address program-specific risk management issues.
  • Interact with youth through planned activities and facilitate inclusion of special needs participants.
  • Manage accidents and incidents according to procedures and complete required reports/paperwork.
  • Monitor program expenditures to ensure budget adherence.
  • Oversee general upkeep and care of equipment, supplies, and facilities.
  • Attend supervisory and planning meetings.
  • Report incidents of Child Abuse/Neglect.
  • Perform duties of a Recreation 1 and 2, role modeling exemplary performance.
