About The Position

This internship offers an opportunity to get involved in city government and make a tangible impact by assisting with behind-the-scenes work in the Summer Camp and Party programs at the Olathe Community Center. Interns will gain hands-on experience, work alongside seasoned professionals, and contribute to projects that enhance residents' lives. It's a chance to explore local government, community engagement, and public space planning, embarking on a journey of learning, growth, and real-world impact while supporting the community. Internships will begin in May and run for up to 6 months, with varying hours and weekly schedules. The hourly pay is $15.50.

Requirements

  • Experience: None.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Licenses & Certifications: None.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the planning, organization, and implementation of a wide variety of special projects and activities within the Recreation Department.
  • Completes special projects assigned by the Director and/or his designee.
  • Maintains positive public relations with all participants and staff.
  • Assists in the departmental tasks including report writing and record keeping.
  • Attends departmental meetings.
  • Works primarily follows a routine daily schedule with attendance at weekend and evening events.
  • Communicates regularly with supervisor through weekly meetings and informal.
