About The Position

The Recreation Supervisor will be directly responsible for overseeing the operations and staff of the Family FunPlex and Recreation Center. The Recreation Supervisor will oversee multiple full-time staff including Recreation Coordinators, Customer Service Representatives, and between 60 and 180 part-time staff. The Recreation Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing risk management and emergency response practices; employee training, development, onboarding and ensuring quality customer service at assigned recreation facilities. The Recreation Supervisor also oversees membership sales, daily admissions, guest services and communication efforts. The Recreation Supervisor reports to one of the Recreation Managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree gained through a four-year college/university academic program or specialized technical training of equivalent length.
  • Two to four (2-4) years’ experience in related field including supervisory or management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Personnel Management - Hire, train, supervise and evaluate Recreation Coordinators and Customer Service Representatives and ensure all other hourly employees are fulfilling expectations of their positions. Host regularly scheduled team meetings and training courses for full-time staff. Conduct individual staff meetings on a regular basis with direct reports focusing on professional development, goal setting, employee expectations and continual growth. Work closely with other Recreation Supervisors to ensure expectations such as recognition and discipline are consistent amongst staff and knowledge is shared between program and facility areas. Foster the development of special events, incentive programs, collaborative programs, and support staff when needed with the execution of events and programs. Provide quality customer service through the development of relationships with staff, participants, community members and various organizations.
  • Facility and Risk Management - Serve as the point person for all operations within the Family FunPlex and Recreation facilities. This includes all communication and correspondence with any program or service taking place within the facility. Ensure facilities and programs are meeting local, state, and federal guidelines. Support reservation requests and facility scheduling. Partner with facilities staff to ensure building repairs are completed in a timely manner and all preventative maintenance occurs regularly. Assist with the oversight and coordination of capital improvement projects. Ensure standard operating procedures, risk management and emergency response plans, staff manuals, facility rules and regulations, memorandums of understanding, user agreements and all necessary forms are in place for the facility/program area and are updated on an annual basis. Train staff in risk management procedures and ensure all employees are demonstrating safe practices.
  • Fiscal Management - Develop facility and program budgets. Oversee the purchase of furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Regularly review and report program and facility budgets to ensure expenditures and revenue align with the Greeley Recreation priorities and budget forecasts. Regularly update performance measures. Provide division updates for senior leadership and applicable boards/committees. Oversee payroll and timekeeping for facility and program staff.
  • Membership/Customer Relations - Oversee membership and daily admission offerings at Recreation facilities. Provide quality customer service through the development of relationships with program participants, members, guests, local organizations and the community. Work with Communication and Engagement Department along with Greeley Recreation staff to develop a marketing and communication plan.
  • Technology/Assessment - Utilize software and other tools for reporting purposes and ensure all staff are properly trained on the software. Support the development and administration of surveys and focus groups to gauge participant satisfaction levels, gather constructive feedback and acquire ideas for facility and program improvements. Assist with development and management of digital marketing efforts.
  • Program Management - Work directly with the Communication and Engagement Department to ensure marketing materials, websites, and social media sites are updated with accurate information. Assist in the development of new and innovative recreation programs in a variety of categories based on community demand and needs.
  • Communication: The Recreation Supervisor works closely with community partners, vendors/ contractors. The Recreation Supervisor establishes contracts with organizations and determines operation schedules and rental fees. The Recreation Supervisor develops Coordinator goals and priorities and ensure staff are continually operating with a growth mindset. The Recreation works collaboratively with 5 other Recreation Supervisors, working towards the strategic plan and division goals and objectives.
  • Problem solving and decision-making: Work is defined by policies, principles, and departmental objectives. Policies, even though clearly defined, are less limiting than procedures. Principles are the underlying disciplines such as engineering, law, or accounting. There is choice in determining the process to accomplish the work. Limits are set by professional standards, available resources, and program objectives established by a higher management level.
