Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in recreation, physical education, event management.
  • CPR/AED training.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
  • Successful background screening.
  • Knowledge of all recreation centers clubs, leagues and recreational activities, lifestyle/special events.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units or measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, recordkeeping, routine data base activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provides daily oversight and supervision in the assigned area, ensuring optimum customer experience and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
  • Builds rapport with clubs, staff, and event contacts to ensure adherence to Department and District policies and procedures.
  • Answers telephone calls related to assigned facility/area.
  • Stays current with District and Department policies and updates.
  • Travels to other Recreation locations as needed.
  • Performs duties after hours and on weekends; may be required to work on-call.
  • Creates, tracks, and updates department surveys.
  • Handles conflicts and complaints, working towards successful resolutions.
  • Reviews websites for accuracy.
  • Proficiently uses department software.
  • Familiar with all department guidelines, including RLVG and Facility.
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of facilities, including opening, operations, and closing procedures.
  • Assists in the setup, breakdown, and inspection of facilities for events.
  • Interacts and coordinates with Maintenance, Special Events, and Entertainment departments, media, The Enrichment Academy, and resident lifestyle volunteer groups.
  • Accepts requests for new Resident Lifestyle Volunteer Groups (RLVGs), researches needs, and creates permits.
  • Interacts with existing resident volunteers on contract renewals and guidelines.
  • Designs and prepares computerized room layouts for scheduled events.
  • Instructs individuals and/or groups in lessons and rules/regulations of sports activities.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates recreational programs and resident activities within budget.
  • Registers residents and guests in Recreation Software for lifestyle events/socials.
  • Assists customers in all aspects of The Enrichment Academy program, including registration, refunds, and inquiries.
  • Provides assistance and direction to instructors/speakers for The Enrichment Academy.
  • Assists with organizing and overseeing Expos and special events for The Enrichment Academy.
  • Assists in the catalog, publication review, and proofreading for The Enrichment Academy.
  • Assists with all aspects of facility reservations for various customers.
  • Facilitates all aspects of recreation leagues and sporting events.
  • Understands and runs tournaments, including setup, registration, roster management, purchasing supplies, creating brackets, filling out brackets, and conducting post-tournament reviews.
  • Follows required ID protocol for residents and/or guests.
  • Follows District incident reporting protocols for all incidents.
  • Abides by cash handling procedures for assigned areas.
  • Maintains recordkeeping/data entry, manually or via computer.
  • Performs monthly maintenance checks on facilities.
  • Maintains inventory and orders equipment and supplies.
  • Monitors and processes all requested forms.
  • Processes all receipts/expenditures and credit card transactions.
  • Supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas.
  • Creates staff schedules based on needs.
  • Reviews/approves timecards.
  • Performs yearly performance evaluations of staff.
  • Conducts staff training in assigned areas.
  • Assists staff with all daily tasks, questions, and concerns.
  • Conducts routine staff meetings.
  • Maintains inventory, routine maintenance, and safety inspections of recreation facilities and equipment.
  • Complies with District Fleet Management Policy.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in using all recreation equipment.
  • Assists in minor repairs and equipment maintenance.
  • Operates office equipment, including telephones, personal computers, and productivity software.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • May perform additional duties in an emergency.
