About The Position

Under general supervision, this position plans, manages, and evaluates community recreation programs and operations, including fitness and wellness, therapeutic recreation, enrichment, youth, family, senior programs, the Town's Run Series, and related special events. Responsibilities include supervising staff, administering budgets, developing programs, ensuring safe and efficient operations, supporting marketing and customer engagement, and delivering high-quality services that align with departmental goals and community needs.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in recreation, therapeutic recreation, fitness and wellness management, or a closely related field, supplemented by at least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in community recreation, fitness, wellness, enrichment, therapeutic recreation, or related programming, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years of driving history.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a CPR and First Aid certification and obtain and maintain an in-house First Responder certification upon hire.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and Town laws along with municipal recreation principles, practices, and program management.
  • Knowledge of advanced customer service principles and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of Fitness equipment, recreation facilities, and safety practices.
  • Knowledge of program planning, implementation, evaluation, and benchmarking.
  • Knowledge of CAPRA accreditation practices and standards.
  • Skill in Staff supervision and leadership.
  • Skill in budget management and organizational planning.
  • Skill in computer proficiency.
  • Skill in problem solving and decision making.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to analyze issues, develop practical solutions, and exercise sound judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and oversight of Community Recreation programs, including fitness and wellness, therapeutic recreation, enrichment, youth, family, senior programming, the Run Series, and special events.
  • Evaluates program success using participation, financial performance, customer satisfaction, and established outcomes.
  • Manages Community Recreation program budgets by monitoring revenues and expenditures, preparing budget reports, implementing operational procedures, and addressing administrative or personnel issues as appropriate.
  • Oversees planning, operations, staffing, and evaluation of the Town's Run Series events.
  • Administers safety and risk management practices by enforcing departmental policies and emergency response plans and by developing, implementing, and evaluating safety procedures, operating practices, and training programs.
  • Oversees purchasing, inventory, maintenance, and safe operation of fitness equipment and program supplies used throughout Community Recreation programs and services.
  • Responds to participant inquiries, concerns, and feedback, resolving issues to promote a positive customer experience.
  • Coordinates marketing and promotional efforts for Community Recreation programs, Run Series events, and special events by reviewing promotional materials, website content, social media, and other communications.
  • Leads staff meetings to communicate operational updates, policies, and expectations, and provides guidance to leadership regarding Community Recreation programs, services, facilities, and operations.
  • Reviews accident and incident reports for accuracy and completeness and ensures appropriate documentation and follow-up.
  • Provides customer service support as needed, including assisting patrons and responding to inquiries.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
