About The Position

Horizons Youth Services at Milwaukee Job Corps Center provides educational and job training programs for young people. The center seeks full-time Recreation Specialists to encourage students to participate in recreation programs during evenings and weekends at its residential trade school for young adults. The role supervises staff and students to ensure safe and secure recreation and avocation activities, and oversees the code of conduct as part of the behavior management system.

Requirements

One year of experience required.
Valid state driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree preferred, preferably in a related field.
Lifeguard certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with planning, implementing, and instructing a variety of recreation activities, events, and field trips.
Monitor activities for individuals and groups, including tournament, varsity, and intramural competitions.
Oversee recreation plans for students who are not participating in athletic events.
Supervise the development of instructional programs that teach students new skills and improve existing skills.
Supervise staff and students to ensure safe and secure operation of recreation and avocation activities.
Supervise the code of conduct in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the behavior management system.
