The Recreation Program Supervisor plays a key role in delivering high-quality recreational programming and community events for the City of Albemarle. The Supervisor plans, coordinates, implements, and oversees a variety of recreational, athletic, and leisure programs with a focus on adults ages 50 and older. The role also supports citywide special events through sponsor engagement, volunteer coordination, logistical planning, permit approval, and event promotion. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to collaborate with community partners, volunteers, and staff. Work is performed in accordance with departmental policies and involves both indoor and outdoor environments. Work is performed in accordance with Departmental rules and policies and requires judgment and discretion in interpretation of programs, and the application of game rules, and procedures. This position is housed in an active recreation center. Employees are subject to hazards in parks and recreation including working both inside and outside environments and in extreme temperatures and noise. Duties may also expose the employee to human body fluids and the work is covered by the OSHA requirements of blood borne pathogens. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Director and/or Sr. Recreation Supervisor and is evaluated in terms of program effectiveness, thorough observation, and public feedback.
