About The Position

Under general supervision, this role involves opening and closing athletic facilities, setting up equipment for athletics leagues, tournaments, and programs, as well as assisting with City special events. The position requires a well-rounded knowledge of sports rules such as softball, basketball, and soccer. The role demands flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. This position reports to the athletics coordinator.

Requirements

Ability to organize, plan, direct, and lead a group of children or adults.
Write reports and evaluations.
Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Deal tactfully and effectively with staff, participants, and the public.
Well-rounded knowledge of sports rules such as softball, basketball, soccer, etc.
Ability to analyze information.
Ability to perform computations.
Ability to generate written work product.
Ability to perform independent problem solving.
Ability to maintain positive public relations.
Ability to organize.
Ability to collaborate with others to achieve shared goals.

Nice To Haves

Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Recreation or a related field is desirable.

Responsibilities

Work with various organizations to ensure leagues, rentals, and tournaments are successful.
Staff and set up for athletic games.
Drag and chalk softball/baseball fields.
Score keep athletic games.
Be friendly, courteous, and helpful to all patrons.
Circulate and be aware of any incidents, accidents, and injuries that may occur during a shift.
Assist with department and Citywide special events.
Open and close athletic facilities.
Set up equipment for athletics leagues, tournaments and programs.
Work City special events.
