About The Position

The City of Lenexa is seeking a Recreation Program Instructor to join our team at the Lenexa Old Town Activity Center. This role is ideal for someone who is creative, energetic, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of the 50-plus community. As a Recreation Program Instructor, you will plan, lead, and supervise engaging programs for adults aged 50 and older, creating meaningful experiences through organizing activities, coordinating day tours, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least two years of instruction or customer service experience.
CPR/AED certification (must obtain within 60 days of hire; City-paid).
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Experience in Canva preferred.
Certifications required for teaching specific classes (if applicable).

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and lead programs for the 50-plus community.
Promote activities by writing class descriptions, creating flyers, and assisting with marketing.
Assist with special events, including themed parties, potlucks, Wii Bowling tournaments, seminars, and trip preparations.
Drive a city or personal vehicle to meetings, training sessions, and events.
Operate a 15-passenger van for day tours.
Support festivals and other events as needed.
