Requirements

  • Diploma in a related human/ social service field.
  • Three (3) years of recent related experience including one-year supervisory or administrative experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and supervisory skills.
  • First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain within three months
  • Class 5 Drivers Licence and willingness to obtain Class 4
  • Successfully completion of the Agency screening process, including criminal record check
  • This position requires union membership

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned recreation programs.
  • Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates plans and programs designed to ensure that the needs of children, youth, and families are met.
  • Ensures that program standards, guidelines and policies of BGCO are maintained and that all licensing requirements are met.
  • Assists with the recruitment of program staff and volunteers including conducting interviews, selection, hiring, and orientation.
  • Authority for the day-to-day direction, performance feedback of program staff and volunteers.
  • Addresses staff workplace issues and assists in resolving workplace disputes.
  • Ensures that accurate program and client records are maintained, and that confidentiality is a priority.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination of quality and diverse programming.
  • Works closely with the Manager on program development, procedures, and evaluations.
  • Manages program budgets.
  • Ensures effective communication with staff and families.
