About The Position

The Department of Public Works is responsible for delivering capital improvement projects for a wide variety of City facilities and infrastructure, maintaining City facilities and fleet assets, facilitating, and regulating development activities, and providing animal care and services. Requirements

  • Completion of high school or equivalent (General Education Development [GED] Test or California Proficiency Certificate).
  • Valid First Aid certificate (must be maintained).
  • Valid CPR certificate (must be maintained).
  • Those applicants in their last semester of high school are permitted to apply but will be required to provide proof of graduation prior to obtaining a work assignment.
  • Ability to work extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing between 25 and 50 pounds on an as needed basis.
  • Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and providing customer/client support for special events.
  • Provide technical assistance and set up of equipment on day of event.
  • Assist in resolving customer issues and complaints.
  • Respond to emergency situations during events.
  • Coordinate with event staff such as ushers, ticket takers, security, crowd control, outside contractors.
  • Perform facility safety checks which may include enforcing Safety and Fire Marshall Regulations.
  • Prepare event reports.
