About The Position

This position is budgeted for $17.34/hour and is limited to 999 hours per fiscal year. The City of Escondido is seeking dynamic individuals to work in a fast-paced community center. This front counter position will engage the public regarding recreation programs, provide excellent customer service, and support the operations of the East Valley Community Center (EVCC). Available shifts vary, including weekdays (7:45 a.m. – 9:15 p.m.) and weekends (8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.).

Requirements

18 years of age at the time of employment
High school graduate or equivalent
First Aid and CPR Certification
Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly desirable
Energetic, self-motivated, and team-oriented
Strong customer service skills and ability to work with community members of all ages, volunteers, outside agency representatives, and City staff
Excellent oral and written skills
Organized and able to multi-task
Ability to work independently and request assistance when necessary
Knowledge of Microsoft Professional Suite
Experience working in a public service environment or customer service

Responsibilities

Assist customers in front counter operations including activity registration, answering phones/emails, and handling payments.
Prepare room/gym set-ups and perform general office duties.
Provide assistance to City staff, outside agencies, and the general public regarding community programs.
Monitor facility activities to ensure the safety and security of the public and staff.
Provide excellent customer service via phone, email, and in-person.
Handle all emergencies, incidents, and/or injuries.
Promote programs and events to customers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
