Recreation Leader II - Gym Supervisor (Youth Basketball)
About The Position
The City of Puyallup is hiring for up to 4 Gym Supervisors for the Youth Basketball program. Gym Supervisors will work from November 30, 2026 - March 14, 2027. Employees will work 5-17 hours per week. Employees in this position perform officiating of youth basketball games and supervise of Puyallup School District gyms for practices and games under the direction of the Recreation Manager. The gym supervisors act as a representative of the Puyallup Parks and Recreation Department by enforcing the rules, ensuring proper behavior by the participants and spectators, and tactfully dealing with the public at various facilities.
Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 16 years of age or older
- Possession of a current basic First Aid and CPR (in infant, child and adult) certification card is required at time of employment
- Successful candidates must comply with a background check required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act, RCW 43.43.830 through 43.43.840
- Provide own transportation to and from sites
- Be on time for all assigned activities and scheduled shifts
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of work
- Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance
Nice To Haves
- Prior officiating work experience desirable
