About The Position

The City of Fitchburg has a great opportunity for those looking for a part-time position. High School students are encouraged to apply! Under the general direction and supervision of the Community Center/Recreation Director, the Basketball Gym Attendant will be the onsite staff contact person for the Fitchburg Recreation Youth Basketball Program. This position will be approximately 10-15 hours per week and ideal candidates will need to be available Monday - Thursday evenings and Saturdays. Must be able to provide their own transportation to and from the site. This position will remain open until filled.

Requirements

• Minimum age requirement: 16 years.
• Ability to communicate with the public.
• Ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to maintain adequate attendance.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, and the general public.
• Ability to work with culturally diverse individuals and groups.
• In evaluating candidates for this position, the City may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties of this position.

Responsibilities

• Monitor facility, school site, gymnasium, equipment, and participants.
• Maintain a safe playing atmosphere and environment.
• Set up all equipment as needed before practices and games.
• Monitor condition of equipment, recommending replacement when needed.
• Return facility to the original state at the conclusion of practices and games.
• Provide a central reference point for all site and program-related inquiries by participants, coaches, and the public.
• Complete accident/incident reports as needed.
