About The Position

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking self-motivated, energetic, responsible individuals interested in part-time employment to provide facility-related services and equipment set-ups for recreation programs and events at the Community Center and various sites throughout the City. Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30).

Requirements

  • Minimum age is 16 years old.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in areas related to customer service.
  • Must be available to work 6-8 hour shifts on weekday evenings and weekends each week.
  • Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license and a safe driving record or the ability to supply alternate transportation as approved by the appointing authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in customer service and/or facility-related services.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, or Farsi

Responsibilities

  • Performs light cleaning, removes trash, moves furniture and equipment, and picks up supplies for programs and classes.
  • Monitors facility user groups by enforcing rules and regulations, and securing and/or reporting damage or unsafe conditions.
  • Serves as a contact for evening and weekend events, responding to customer questions and ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
  • Opens facilities in mornings and secures them in the evenings.
  • Provides appropriate room setup and take down for classes, meetings, parties, and special events; ensures rooms are free of safety hazards.
