About The Position

The Recreation Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of fitness and recreation areas, ensuring guests have access to necessary supplies, and promoting a positive and safe environment. This role involves direct guest interaction, enforcing facility rules, and assisting with recreational activities. The attendant will also manage inventory, distribute equipment, and respond to guest needs and emergencies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/G.E.D. equivalent
  • No related work experience is required
  • No supervisory experience is required
  • Ability to visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Ability to speak to guests and co-workers using clear, appropriate and professional language.
  • Ability to answer telephones using appropriate etiquette including answering the phone within 3 rings, answering with a smile in one's voice, using the callers' name, transferring calls to appropriate person/department, requesting permission before placing the caller on hold, taking and relaying messages, and allowing the caller to end the call.

  • Ability to follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, blood borne pathogens, etc., including using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Ability to protect company tools, equipment, machines, or other assets in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Ability to address guests' service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner.

  • Ability to provide assistance to individuals with disabilities, including assisting visually, hearing, or physically-impaired individuals within guidelines (e.g., escorting them when requested, using words to explain actions, writing directions on paper, moving objects out of the way, or offering access to Braille or TDD phones).
  • Ability to actively listen and respond positively to guest questions, concerns, and requests using brand or property specific process (e.g., LEARN, PLEASED, Guest Response, LEAP) to resolve issues, delight, and build trust.
  • Ability to welcome and acknowledge each and every guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using the guest's name when possible.

  • Ability to identify situations where guest is not able to safely participate in an activity and inform supervisor/manager.
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of children participating in recreational activities by following company policy and procedure for working with children (e.g., use of waiver forms).
  • Ability to explain and enforce the rules and regulations of the recreation facility (fitness center, pool/beach, tennis courts, skiing area) for the safety and welfare of guests and members.

Responsibilities

  • Wipe down fitness center machines and remove towels, trash, and debris.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of cups and water in the recreation area.
  • Clean fitness and recreation area restrooms and showers.
  • Obtain, fold, and stack towels according to company procedures.
  • Distribute lockers and towels to guests.
  • Conduct inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment and inform supervisor/manager of low supply items.
  • Provide information to guests about available recreation facilities and activities.
  • Promote a fun and relaxing atmosphere for guests.
  • Maintain safety and security of children and adults participating in recreational activities.
  • Provide assistance to injured guests until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Explain and enforce the rules and regulations of the recreation facility.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
  • Complete safety training and certifications.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
