About The Position

The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking creative, energetic, and self-motivated team players to join our Recreation Division as Recreation Associate – Ice Programs. This is a part-time position, up to 24 hours per week, providing front-line support for ice and arena-based recreation programs at the Wasaga Stars Arena. The role involves assisting with the safe and effective delivery of public skating, drop-in hockey, shinny, and other ice-related programs, ensuring a positive experience for all participants. Responsibilities include monitoring on-ice and facility activities, enforcing program rules and safety standards, responding to participant inquiries, and supporting overall program operations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in High School or in possession of a High School Diploma.
  • Ability to skate confidently. Must be comfortable and confident on ice for the supervision and support of ice-based programs.
  • Experience working or volunteering in sport, recreation, or a municipal setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to confidently interact with participants of all ages and respond appropriately to incidents.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certification (required).
  • Current Criminal Records Check – Vulnerable Sector Screening (required upon hire).
  • General knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in Recreation, Leisure Services, or a related field is considered an asset.
