About The Position

The Recreation Assistant (RA) is responsible for day-to-day activities for participants in large groups, small groups, and individually to help meet their psychosocial needs. The RA also helps participants complete activities of daily living while at the Center. The role fosters a team-focused environment and practices Person Centered Care in participants’ programming and care needs. The position reports directly to the Director of Recreation.

This is a full-time position with a Monday–Friday schedule and no weekends. Insight Memory Care Center provides specialized care, support, and education for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory impairments, their families, caregivers, and the community. Its adult day health and resource center provides a safe, therapeutic environment and a well-rounded therapeutic recreation program addressing participants’ physical, cognitive, and social needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least one year of experience working with individuals with dementia in a memory care setting.
• Ability to assist in facilitating a wide variety of programs, including music, art, cognitive, social, and physical activities.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, email, and virtual meeting platforms, and ability to use the internet.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Music, Art, or Speech Therapy (or a related field), or equivalent work experience.
