About The Position

The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is seeking customer service-oriented individuals to join its team as a part-time Recreation Aide. This position supports daily operations and assists with organizing and leading a variety of recreational programs and activities at City community centers. Part-time Recreation Aides work an average of 20 hours per week and are assigned to varied work shifts, including weekends.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write.
• No experience is required.
• Age 15 or older.
• Knowledge of: Methods, materials and equipment used for recreation, social and athletic activities.
• Ability to: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction; Transport materials and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; Follow oral and written instructions; Work indoors and out in a variety of environmental conditions; Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Responsibilities

• Welcome community members, answer questions, provide friendly customer service, and assist Recreation Leaders with various activities.
• Help lead special events, distribute and collect equipment, monitor participants, and help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment.
• Support daily operations and assist with organizing and leading a variety of recreational programs and activities at City community centers.
