About The Position

The Recreation Activities Assistant helps plan and implement recreational and therapeutic activities for residents at Evergreen Center for Health & Rehabilitation. The role contributes creative ideas and enthusiasm to a positive, lively atmosphere and supports meaningful experiences for seniors and their families. The assistant works with the Activities Director and the broader team, provides individual support to residents as needed, encourages social interaction, and records residents’ participation. Training is provided.

Requirements

Compassionate and empathetic nature.
Interest in the therapeutic needs of older adults and people with chronic illnesses, and ability to work with both.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a long-term care or senior living setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist in planning, organizing, and executing a variety of activities for residents.
Engage residents in arts and crafts, games, music, and other recreational programs.
Collaborate with the Activities Director to develop and implement a monthly activities calendar.
Provide one-on-one support for residents who need additional assistance.
Foster a sense of community and social interaction among residents.
Document and maintain records of residents’ participation in activities.
