About The Position

Educational Systems FCU is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented individual with a can-do attitude, excellent communication and negotiation skills to fill the role of Recovery Specialist- Repossession. This role involves following detailed and standardized procedures for maintaining accurate collections and recovery records. The Specialist performs various duties related to the collection and recovery function in compliance with credit union policies and all relevant Federal, State, NCUA, and other regulatory agencies' rules and regulations. The incumbent will respond to inquiries from internal and external members, process requests/transactions, and work directly with outside collection agencies and attorneys to maximize recovery on assigned accounts. Additionally, the role involves assisting members in understanding and utilizing credit union products and services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum four (4) years' experience in post charge off collections and recovery in a financial institution or collection agency.
  • Ability to function independently exercising sound judgment on advanced collection principles and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  • Must be willing to cross train in other areas within Member Solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and analytical skills required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Professional, PACER, e-Oscar and Accurint.
  • Working knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and bankruptcy laws is essential.
  • Ability to function in a financial institution environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: 10 key calculator, fax, copier, telephone, etc.
