Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science degree from an accredited college or university required, or 4 years of additional collections experience required in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 years collections experience in consumer, direct and indirect auto loans, credit card and mortgages required.
  • 2 years supervisory experience required.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Debtor/Creditor Collection Law, Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, and Florida Statutes pertaining to the collection of consumer debts.
  • Excellent telephonic communication, negotiation and analytical skills needed.
  • Demonstrate ability to recognize and resolve problems quickly and to provide accurate information.
  • Demonstrate the ability to remain courteous in pressure situations.
  • Intermediate to advanced operational knowledge of general office and PC equipment and the use of automated collection software required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a call center environment beneficial.
  • Familiarization with bankruptcy law is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operations and productivity of the Recovery Department.
  • Ensures that staff is in compliance with applicable federal and state laws governing the collection of consumer debts and abiding with the Credit Union’s established policies, procedures and practices.
  • Provides leadership, planning, motivation, guidance, encouragement and development to all assigned staff within their area of responsibility.
  • Represents the best interests of both the Credit Union and its members.
  • Meets with supervisors regularly to discuss performance and department related business.
  • Communicates with management concerning the effectiveness and overall performance of the department.
