The Recovery Coach also works with patients who frequently use the Emergency Department, coordinating with peer networks and natural supports, referring individuals to community social-service providers, following up on referrals, and contributing to treatment-plan revisions. The role provides short-term follow-up by phone, text, or in person and may include temporary transportation assistance to essential behavioral-health appointments while individuals transition to community transportation resources. The position requires lived experience with addiction and sustained recovery. A driver’s license and car are required. Recovery Coach Academy or CCAR training must be completed before working with individuals in the ED and within one month of hire for ESP work.
