The Records Technician enhances patient care by greeting and welcoming all new patients into the practice. This role requires staying informed and updated on HIPAA and OSHA regulations. The technician will manage patient interactions positively, maintain a pleasant and caring attitude, and ensure a neat and orderly office and lab area. Responsibilities include fabricating removable appliances, assisting with retainer delivery and check appointments, taking impressions, and pouring impressions for retainers and study models. The technician will also familiarize themselves with clinical assistant duties and substitute when necessary, seat and set up patients, take chairside records, and learn to take intra-oral scans. Assisting with sterilization, restocking instruments, and identifying instruments and supplies are also key duties. The role requires availability on non-doctor days for patient care, managing patient records including photographs and x-rays, and handling patient information in compliance with HIPAA. Communication with doctors, treatment coordinators, front desk, and office manager is essential, as is handling the shipping and receiving of outside lab cases and reviewing the following week's deliveries and schedule updates. The technician will monitor inventory, maintain equipment, and develop maintenance schedules, providing monthly reports. Daily tasks include prepping solutions, machines, electronics, debond projects, processing instruments, and completing checklists. The role also supports the marketing team in internal and external initiatives, requiring participation in at least two marketing events per quarter and representing the company in the community. Active participation in team meetings and adherence to team principles are expected, along with performing other assigned tasks.
