About The Position

This position is within the Department of Children and Families, Circuit 6 Pasco & Pinellas Counties, and is an Open Competitive posting for Career Service. The Records Technician is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and assigning all abuse reports from the Florida Abuse Hotline. The role also involves following up with supervisory personnel to ensure awareness of pending investigations and staff assignments. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • Must work weekends and rotating holidays.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Participation in the State of Florida Direct Deposit Program is required.
  • Male candidates born on or after October 1, 1962, must be registered with the Selective Service System (SSS) before their 26th birthday or have a Letter of Registration Exemption from the SSS.
  • Successful completion of a State and National criminal history check.
  • Screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.S., and, if applicable, Chapter 408, F.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of clerical experience preferred.
  • Ability to speak/read/write Spanish/Creole/French or other foreign language may be considered in the selection process as determined by Agency need at time of interview.

Responsibilities

  • Print and review all abuse reports received from the Hotline and OTI requests called in from other counties, requiring coordination with the Florida Abuse Hotline Information system (FAHIS), Child Information System (CIS) and Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN).
  • Review appropriate databases for previous or open investigations and child family involvement with other family safety programs.
  • Provide clerical support for a multi-function Family Safety Unit.
  • Prepare intake case records for Child Protective Investigator for cases received over the Child Abuse Hotline, assigning the case in Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN) and notifying the CPI. This procedure is also followed for any Out-of-town Inquiry Request.
  • Assign cases to CPI or CPI Supervisor.
  • Package investigation information and conduct diligent searches.
  • Archive case files and maintain rotation and case logs.
