Records Specialist Inputs and transfers reports and supplements into computer database; Prepares records for scanning and archiving. Assists and responds to public and other law enforcement personnel at lobby window or by telephone and/or directs to appropriate person. Answers incoming mail, fax and NCIC/TCIC for inquiries on reports and background checks. Files and maintains filing system for all official accident, case and jail records for the department; Maintains security for all records. Maintains cash fund and prepares weekly cash deposits. Prepares TLETS validations. Prepares computer merges. Prepares information requested in subpoenas for court appearances and information requested in Open Records Request. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Six months job related experience
  • Good computer and typing skills
  • Working knowledge of database software
  • Good verbal and written communication skills along with bookkeeping and organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials
  • Ability to prioritize own work
  • TCIC/NCIC Less than Full Access within first year of employment
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • All applicants must schedule and pass the required Nelson-Denny (Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary) Test prior to moving forward in the hiring process.
  • Applicants MUST contact the Sheriff’s Office Human Resources to schedule the test before proceeding.
