About The Position

The City of Webster's City Secretary Department is now accepting applications for the Records Manager position. The purpose of this position is to maintain the integrity of Central File by assuring that all City records are properly named, coded and filed; maintaining the retention schedule for City records and disposal per state statute; providing record management training for all department designated records' liaisons; scanning of documents; providing support for the City Secretary's office – including elections. This position is responsible for coordinating various Citizen Programs with the City Secretary and Deputy City Secretary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible records management experience in municipal government is required.
  • Valid Texas Class C driver's license required.
  • Must obtain a City approved records management certification, such as the Certified Records Analyst (CRA) or Certified Records Manager (CRM) designation, within two (2) years of employment and maintain the certification throughout employment in the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience administering an electronic document and records management system.
  • Applying Texas State Library and Archives Commission retention schedules.
  • Processing public information requests.
  • Providing records management training.
  • Experience with Laserfiche or a comparable system is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrity of Central File by assuring that all City records are properly named, coded and filed.
  • Maintain the retention schedule for City records and disposal per state statute.
  • Provide record management training for all department designated records' liaisons.
  • Scanning of documents.
  • Providing support for the City Secretary's office – including elections.
  • Coordinating various Citizen Programs with the City Secretary and Deputy City Secretary.
  • Functioning as a lead worker performing essentially the same work as those directed, and includes overseeing work quality, training, instructing, and scheduling work.
  • Providing services in the course and scope of employment for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of Webster's citizens.
