IGRA's purpose is to support tribal economic development and governance through gaming on Indian Lands, safeguarding tribes as primary beneficiaries, shielding Indian gaming from corruption, and ensuring fair and honest games. The NIGC was created to protect tribal gaming as a revenue source for tribal governance and communities.
