About The Position

The Rusk County Sheriff's Department is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Records Management Specialist to support its operations. This role involves serving as the primary point of contact for citizens, assisting law enforcement with data management, and maintaining accurate departmental records. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer skills, the ability to multitask, and thrive in a team-oriented setting, contributing to public safety within the community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of computers and software programs.
  • General knowledge of Wisconsin criminal, traffic, and civil law.
  • Ability to type/keyboard at least 55 words per minute.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Filing skills.
  • Excellent references, attitude, and record of being a solid team member.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Ability to meet and greet the public politely and courteously, projecting a positive image of the Department.
  • Ability to retrieve, transmit, and maintain confidential and public information on a computer.
  • Ability to provide general computer maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counter service to the public, assisting with forms, taking complaints, and offering directions.
  • Handle registrations on behalf of the Department of Transportation.
  • Receive, categorize, prepare, and maintain confidential information including complaints, reports, arrests, warrants, and traffic accident locations.
  • Complete data entry for cases, including offenses, names, property, arrests, traffic warnings, and citations, ensuring records conform to Wisconsin State standards.
  • Provide records to insurance companies, attorneys, citizens, and the District Attorney's Office.
  • Calculate and prepare statistics for monthly and annual Departmental reports.
  • Update and maintain files for the 911 database and geo maps.
  • Assist other office personnel with their duties as needed.
  • Adhere to all departmental policies, procedures, rules, regulations, orders, or directives.
  • Compile computer-generated Incident Based Reporting data for accurate statistical offense reporting to the State of Wisconsin.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Chief Deputy or Sheriff.
