About The Position

The San Mateo County's Human Services Agency is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Records Center Assistant II. Under general supervision, the Records Center Assistant II provides support for the County's centralized Records Center storage facility. Works with County Departments in coordinating the receiving, shipping, storage, retention and disposal of County records. This is a limited-term position, not to exceed three years.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in using general office technology.
  • The ability to think critically and multi-task.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with records management systems or has the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Relevant work experience providing office or administrative support within a warehouse setting.
  • Experience coordinating the receiving, shipping, storage, and transporting records materials and supplies.
  • The ability to lift materials and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of records management.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and precautions pertaining to the work.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to records management.
  • Knowledge of business data processing applications.
  • Knowledge of business arithmetic.
  • One year of experience in records management.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, store, transport and deliver records materials.
  • Verify records received against packing lists, store records in prescribed order.
  • Perform the clerical checking of incoming materials; perform associated recordkeeping duties in support of record maintenance; use an on-line computer system to access inventory and related information.
  • Participate in administering the operational activities related to records management.
  • Organize and prioritize work and meet operational department records storage needs.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
  • Load and unload materials of various bulk and weight.
  • Lift materials and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
