About The Position

Receives and screens phone calls, greets patients, visitors, and other customers, directs callers and visitors appropriately. Takes requests of various kinds and directs them appropriately. Directs patient/visitor/customer flow. Schedules appointments, takes messages, distributes mail, information and supplies. Performs various clerical duties including typing, data entry, and filing. Orders supplies, mails correspondence, distributes mail, may collect and maintain data. Assists other office personnel as requested. This position is not eligible for sponsorship/we will not sponsor or transfer a visa for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F1 STEM OPT extension program. 2- year commitment to the role required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or high school equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum work experience of one year in a clerical or secretarial position
  • Must be able to operate typical office equipment including computer, copy machine, calculator, facsimile machine, and telephone system
  • Must have excellent communication and public relations skills
  • Must have the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Must be self-directed with problem solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Formal vocational training of one year in a secretarial or computer training course
  • Prior experience with data entry and/or computer word processing
  • Medical terminology background
