About The Position

The Receptionist position at Artesia General Hospital is a full-time role focused on providing excellent patient and visitor services. This role is crucial for maintaining smooth operations within the clinical support department. The receptionist is responsible for greeting individuals, managing schedules, patient registration, handling payments, and coordinating with insurance providers for pre-authorizations and referrals. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Computer skills.
  • Knowledge of office equipment.
  • Ability to handle multi-line telephones.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
  • Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
  • Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, visitors, and co-workers in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Maintain appointment scheduler and follow office scheduling policy.
  • Register patients in a complete and accurate manner to conform to all regulatory requirements.
  • Collect monies at time of service.
  • Review provider medical records to gather information for approvals from various insurance plans.
  • Handle pre-certification and referrals.
  • Handle all prior authorizations on tests as well as medications.
  • Follow up on prior authorizations, ensuring they are completed prior to the scheduled date.
  • Answer the phones.
  • Relay messages to and from providers to patients.
  • Ensure end-of-day reconciliation is complete each night before close.
  • Perform basic clerical duties as required.
