About The Position

The Receptionist I serves as the first point of contact for visitors, clients, and staff, delivering professional front-desk and administrative support in a federal or corporate office environment. This role is responsible for managing communications, coordinating visitor access, and ensuring efficient front-office operations while maintaining a welcoming and secure workplace. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–3 years of receptionist, front desk, or administrative support experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Familiarity with multi-line phone systems and office equipment (copiers, scanners, etc.)
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and manage a high volume of interactions
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Ability to follow office procedures and security protocols
  • Ability to pass background checks or obtain a government clearance (if required)

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors, determine the purpose of their visit, and direct them to appropriate personnel or offices.
  • Answer, screen, and route incoming phone calls in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Maintain visitor logs and issue visitor badges or passes in accordance with security protocols.
  • Schedule and manage appointments, meetings, and conference room bookings.
  • Receive, record, and distribute messages, mail, and deliveries.
  • Provide accurate information to callers and visitors regarding office services and procedures.
  • Maintain records of calls placed and received.
  • Perform general clerical duties, such as data entry, filing, and document preparation.
  • Support administrative staff and assist with routine office operations as needed.
