About The Position

This position is responsible for answering the telephone in a courteous manner and directing calls to the appropriate destination; recording accurate and complete messages when necessary; receiving and receipting deliveries and donations; greeting and announcing visitors and clients; providing general information about The Salvation Army's operations and services; and performing routine clerical work such as data entry and filing. This role also involves recording accurate and complete donation pickup tickets and planning and scheduling the route assignments for Truck Driver(s).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience working in a major firm with telephone switchboard responsibilities.
  • Experience working in a business with dispatcher responsibilities.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Answers the telephone and transfers calls to the appropriate destination.
  • Responds to callers' questions and provides accurate information.
  • Records accurate and complete messages and ensures their timely and accurate distribution.
  • Receives, greets, and announces visitors in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Provides assistance to callers and visitors by answering questions and providing instructions and referrals.
  • Screens sales representatives soliciting to The Salvation Army.
  • Receives, responds to, and assists people requesting social service assistance.
  • Locates appropriate personnel to assist visitors.
  • Notifies proper individuals when visitors or clients have arrived.
  • Ensures that visitors and clients have signed-in and retains and organizes log sheets.
  • Assists with various data entry, vendor notifications, and filing projects.
  • Receives and prepares receipts for donations.
  • Notifies proper individuals of item arrival by telephone and/or E-mail.
  • Schedules pick up appointments for the truck(s).
  • Records accurate and complete pickup tickets and ensures their timely and accurate distribution.
  • Records and updates pickup information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assists Truck Driver with addresses, location, and schedule times, rescheduling times, phone calls to donor, etc.
  • Contacts donors if there is a problem with the scheduled pick-up and reschedules pick-ups if needed.
  • Responds to and attempts to resolve donor complaints.
