The receptionist is expected to stay informed about developments in the skilled nursing sector and associated support services, regulatory practices, and business trends that may influence the facility's financial health. They will also be responsible for promoting safe work practices and accident prevention. Additionally, the role emphasizes treating all customers with dignity and respect, promoting and protecting residents' rights, and establishing a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility/agency policies and procedures, including standards of business conduct and state/federal regulations. The receptionist must always follow appropriate safety and hygiene measures, maintain confidentiality of protected health information, and report noncompliance, retaliation, discrimination, or allegations of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment. They are also responsible for reporting occupational exposures and participating in life safety and emergency drills. The position requires the ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress associated with the role and communicate effectively with all departments.
