Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years experience with right of way, title, paralegal, real property law or mortgage lending
  • Must have ability to understand real estate documents such as appraisal, environmental, survey, deeds, easements, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, court records, assessments, probates and other matters of record
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid organizational and planning skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, Webex and Teams

Nice To Haves

  • Degree or certification pertaining to right of way, title, paralegal, real property law or mortgage lending, or equivalent experience
  • Local candidates preferred
  • Specific industry regulatory knowledge a plus
  • Database, ProjectWise and GIS familiarity a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic principles in reading, writing, retracing and interpreting legal descriptions, such as parent parcel; metes and bounds; and subdivision
  • Review and identify title defects and curative requirements; bringing these matters to the attention of Project Manager, RES Agent, client, title manager or underwriter, as appropriate
  • Preparation of project reports, and review of title document packages
  • Maintain accurate records of title research activities to ensure appropriate back-up information exists
  • Works closely with and at the direction of team members, including Project Managers, RES Title Agent 3 staff, RES Tech 3 staff and RES Agent 3 staff
  • Supports RES Title Agent 3 with development and participates in training junior staff by providing insight and instruction regarding task completion and procedure
  • Recognize when to escalate title issues to RES Agent and Project Manager
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
