About The Position

Beztak, a national Real Estate Development, Construction, and Property Management company, is seeking to hire a bright, dynamic Real Estate Paralegal to join their team in Farmington Hills, MI. This role will support the General Counsel, outside attorneys, and the internal risk management department. The Real Estate Paralegal will be responsible for all aspects of litigation support, including communication with various parties, drafting documents, providing research support, interviewing clients and witnesses, and conducting research, investigations, and fact-checking.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with court filing systems and federal, state, and local rules of practice.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some related experience preferred.
  • Some real estate and/or real estate finance experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Meets with attorneys and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Drafts legal documents, including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories.
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
  • Collect and organize relevant documents, information, and data for attorney review and case preparation.
  • Manage discovery, subpoenas, and other document requests.
  • Compile responsive information and records.
  • Interviews witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
  • Monitor incoming pleadings, discovery, and other case-related documents.
  • Maintain calendar and manage deadlines, ensuring that attorneys are aware of deadlines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
