About The Position

Benesch is seeking an experienced Real Estate/Commercial Finance Paralegal for its Healthcare group in the Columbus office. This is a hybrid position with work-from-home flexibility. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial financing, banking, and real estate purchases and sales, and the ability to manage numerous real estate deals concurrently. This role requires an independent, senior-level paralegal to support busy attorneys. The paralegal will provide support and assistance to attorneys in the coordination, management, and supervision of all aspects of litigation, including handling caseloads, preparing draft legal documents and correspondence, compiling and analyzing information, and coordinating efforts between attorneys, clients, outside legal counsel, opposing counsel, other parties, and outside vendors.

Requirements

  • Paralegal certification preferred
  • 5+ years of real estate, commercial finance and/or banking experience
  • Experience MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required
  • Solid time management and organizational skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Must be available for overtime work and travel as needed

Responsibilities

  • Drafts basic corporate documents and ancillary agreements including final drafts of ancillary finance agreements.
  • Prepare, revise, redline and proofread various corporate documents including contracts, agreements, transactional matters, compliance, closing documents, UCCs, financing and lending, audit letters, etc.
  • Assist with assembly of pre-closing documents and sets of executed documents for various signatures, corporate formation and dissolution documents and UCC financing statements and amendments.
  • Manages, reviews and provides comments/input on the reviews of titles, surveys, zoning reports and finances as well as objection letters and responses.
  • Organizes and maintains complex transaction files and folders as well as all due diligence checklists.
  • Assists with real estate closings on acquisitions, divestures and financing matters involving purchases and sales of real estate including acquisition financing.
  • Manages and maintains closing bibles and agenda to ensure accuracy and up-to-date with all information.
  • Assist with running agendas, proformas and categorizing all due diligence documents.
  • Organizes and maintains case files using a variety of automated procedures.
  • Reviews documents for privilege and drafts privilege logs for attorney review.
  • Performs legal and factual research.
  • Interacts with outside entities (i.e., courts, government agencies, expert witnesses, corporations, vendors and other law firms) to gather information or coordinate activities as needed in support of firm activities, specifically real estate closings.
  • Acts as the liaison between case team attorneys and support staff as needed to ensure that case-specific paralegal services are meeting the team's expectations.
  • Meet billable goals as established by practice management.
  • May require overtime as needed.
