About The Position

The Residential/Commercial Real Estate Paralegal plays a pivotal role in supporting the legal, underwriting, and escrow operations at Old Republic Title. This position is responsible for managing real estate transactions and ensuring that all legal, procedural, and administrative aspects are handled accurately and efficiently. The paralegal provides legal and administrative support to Underwriting, including Commercial Services, Underwriting Counsels, Commercial Examiners, Underwriting Management, and Escrow Services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Paralegal degree/certification or minimum 3 years of related practical experience with a law firm or commercial title insurer.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a commercial real estate paralegal, including title insurance commitments, policies, settlement statements, closings, and post-closing, preferred.
  • Experience with closing software
  • Knowledge of the title insurance and information industry is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate concisely and politely.
  • Ability to independently process commercial and large transactional real estate closings from start to finish.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Able to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Windows and Microsoft Office competency (including but not limited to, intermediate to advanced Excel competency, word processing, navigating in databases, and creating presentations)

Responsibilities

  • Independently facilitate closings, including closing statement preparation, document preparation, recording, phone and email communications, and coordination with Escrow Services.
  • Prepare pro-forma policies, endorsements, and title commitments.
  • Prepare final title policies.
  • Order title searches, updates and preparing endorsements and invoices.
  • Partner with Escrow Services and Underwriters team to review, edit, and have executed, any escrow agreements and provide information and proper documentation required for deposit of funds into escrow accounts.
  • Work with Underwriters, and Company’s offices, agents, and attorneys nationwide to refer, coordinate, track, and follow-up on in-state orders.
  • Assist staff with inquiries related to Escrow Services.
  • Ability to work overtime as requested by management.
