About The Position

Silvi Materials is hiring a Ready Mix Operations Intern for a 10–12-week summer 2027 experience at locations in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, South New Jersey, or North New Jersey. The internship offers hands-on exposure to the concrete industry and the operation of a high-yardage-producing ready-mix plant. Interns work alongside Plant Managers and Plant Mechanics, learn about the aggregate business, visit other mines, and participate in heavy-equipment operation and plant maintenance.

The role provides exposure to ready-mix and dry-batch plant locations and involves supporting daily production, maintenance, quality control, and dispatch activities. Silvi Materials has more than 15 companies, over 950 employees, and more than 30 locations across Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and North Carolina.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a collegiate program; preferred fields include Concrete Industry Management, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, General Engineering, Construction Management, or Materials Science.
• Have a valid driver's license.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Be able to grasp, move, or assemble objects with one or two hands.
• Be able to stand for long periods and kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, or crawl.
• Be able to hear sounds and distinguish between them.
• Be able to see nearby object details and distinguish colors, shades, and brightness.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the day-to-day production responsibilities of a ready-mix concrete plant.
• Learn to batch concrete, including formulas and achieving the desired slump.
• Form concrete blocks for clients and company use.
• Work alongside Maintenance, quality control, and dispatch teams.
• Evaluate aggregates for batching and stockpile purposes.
• Maintain machinery, including conveyors and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Learn to operate a front-end loader and other heavy equipment.
• Travel to Silvi Materials concrete plant locations, including ready-mix and dry-batch plants.
• Visit other Silvi Materials mines, including sand operations.
